About
A small Inverness team working on broadcast studios and live production since 2011.
How buzzynex came to be
buzzynex was founded in Inverness in 2011 to help television crews, venues and event organisers get more from their audiovisual spaces. We began with studio layouts and grew into lighting, sound and workflow. The aim has always been practical, readable work.
The first projects were small studio fit-outs where the main need was a sensible plan. Crews had equipment but no clear idea of where it should go, how the cables should run or how the room would sound once it was in use.
Over time, requests widened. Studios wanted lighting designed for presenters and panels, venues wanted dependable sound, and event organisers needed technical planning from the stage layout through to show control. We added specialists to the team as each need became regular.
Our approach is to draw first and build second. A floor plan, a lighting plot or a microphone plan is easier to discuss and improve than a finished installation, and it keeps the conversation with the client concrete.
We also write practical guides for production teams. Many questions we hear from crews are the same, so putting the answers in plain language saves time for everyone, including people who never become clients.
Today the team covers studio design, lighting, sound and workflow consulting from our base on Harbour Road. We work with studios, venues and event organisers, and we keep projects at a size where each one has a named person responsible.
A studio should make the crew's day easier. If people are still working around the room after we leave, we have not finished the job.

Principles behind our projects
Clarity
We explain choices in plain terms and put scope and prices in writing. Clients can follow the reasoning behind a layout or a lighting plot, and question it.
Reliability
Equipment is tested before handover and live jobs have a backup plan. We would rather spend an extra hour on checks than lose a recording or a show.
Craft
Neat cabling, careful labelling and well-drawn plans are standard on every job. They make the studio easier to run and easier for the next technician to understand.
How our way of working has taken shape
The way buzzynex works grew out of repeated projects with television crews, venues and event organisers. Each stage added a habit that we now apply to every job. Together they explain why our work looks the way it does.

Starting with the floor plan
Early studio fit-outs showed us that most trouble begins with an unclear layout. We started drawing plans, cable routes and acoustic notes before ordering equipment, and clients now review them with their own crews first.
- 2
Adding lighting and sound
Clients asked for help beyond the room itself. Lighting plots and microphone plans joined studio design, so that picture, sound and space are planned together rather than by separate contractors.
- 3
Planning for live events
Concerts, festivals and party stages brought tighter deadlines and no second chances. We developed show control planning and contingency checks that now also benefit our studio projects.
- 4
Simplifying the workflow
Crews often need fewer steps rather than more equipment. Workflow consulting reviews scheduling, camera control and delivery, and removes routines that no longer serve the team.
The size and scope of the team behind the work
buzzynex has worked from Inverness since 2011, which makes fifteen years of studio and live production experience. Four specialists cover design, lighting, sound and workflow. Between them they handle six service areas, from studio layout to live event production, for crews, venues and organisers.
