ContactStudio design and layout
- 01
Floor plans and sightlines
We lay out the set, camera positions, presenter areas and control room so crew can work without crossing shots. You receive scaled drawings that builders and technicians can price and follow.
- 02
Acoustic treatment
We assess the room for reflections and outside noise, then recommend wall, ceiling and floor treatment suited to speech or music. The advice stays within your budget and the limits of the building.
- 03
Cable routing and patching
We plan ducts, floor boxes and patch points so cabling is tidy, labelled and easy to change later. Separating power from signal runs is part of every plan.
- 04
Fit-out coordination
We work alongside your electricians and contractors, answering questions about the drawings and checking the installed work against the plan before the studio is handed to your crew.
How we work
From first enquiry to a studio your crew can use
Every project follows the same sequence, whether it is a single lighting plot or a full studio fit-out. Each step ends with something written down, so you always know what has been decided and what comes next.
- 01
Enquiry and first conversation
You contact us through the contact page and describe the space, the production and any deadlines. We ask questions about crew, equipment and budget so the scope we discuss is realistic from the start.
What you leave with
A shared summary of what you need and what is out of scope.
- 02
Site visit or review
Where the work is a physical space, we visit to measure, photograph and look at power, access and existing equipment. For workflow work, we review your schedules and delivery routines instead.
What you leave with
Survey notes and a list of constraints we must design around.
- 03
Written quotation
We send a written quotation describing the work, what the price includes and what could change it. Nothing begins until you have read it and confirmed in writing.
What you leave with
A quotation setting out scope, price and assumptions.
- 04
Design and delivery
We produce the drawings, plots, plans or recommendations agreed, and revise them with you. For fit-outs, we stay available to your contractors while the work is carried out.
What you leave with
Final drawings, plots or reports ready for your crew or contractors.
- 05
Handover and notes
We walk your crew through the result and write short operating notes in plain language. The invoice follows, payable by bank transfer according to our payment and refund policy.
What you leave with
Operating notes, a handover walkthrough and an invoice.
Questions about our services
These are the questions production managers and studio owners ask most often before getting in touch. If yours is missing, the contact page is the quickest way to ask.
- 01
Can I book just one service rather than a full project?
Yes. Many clients ask only for a lighting plot, a sound plan or a workflow review. Each service stands on its own, and we will tell you if a smaller piece of work depends on something else being settled first, such as the room layout.
- 02
Do you work with studios outside the Highlands?
Our base is in Inverness and much of our fit-out experience is across the Highlands. We take on work elsewhere in the United Kingdom where it makes sense, and we will discuss travel and any extra cost openly in the quotation.
- 03
Do you supply and install the equipment as well?
Our work is design, specification and advice. We recommend equipment that suits your room and budget, and we answer questions from your installers. The purchase and installation contracts remain between you and your chosen suppliers.
- 04
How do I find out what a project will cost?
The prices page gives starting figures for each service. For anything bigger, we send a written quotation after hearing about your space and production. It states what is included and what could change the figure.
- 05
Can you help with a small or temporary studio?
Yes. Spare rooms, church halls and pop-up streaming spaces all need sensible layout, lighting and sound. We scale the advice to the space and keep it practical, without specifying more than the room can use.
- 06
What should I prepare before the first conversation?
A rough idea of what you produce, how many people work on a typical day and any dates you are working toward. Photographs or a sketch of the room help, as does a list of equipment you already own.
- 07
Do you advise on live events as well as studios?
Yes. Our live event production service covers technical planning for concerts, festivals and party stages, including stage layout and show control. The sound and lighting teams who work on studios also plan these events.
- 08
How do ordering and payment work?
You start with an enquiry through the contact page. We reply with a written quotation or confirmation, and once the work is agreed we send an invoice to be paid by bank transfer. Cancellations follow our payment and refund policy.
